Recap: The Wild Garden Macro Photography Workshop

The Wild Garden – an immersive two day macro retreat workshop in the Netherlands, has been a success.

On the 29th and 30th of August 2025, together with Marit van Ekelenburg (also known as macrobymarit), we hosted the participants in a beautiful garden environment to learn more about general macro photography, techniques like focus stacking, and also loads of opportunities for practical testing and shooting in the garden.

It was a very friendly and fun group and we enjoyed lots of talks regarding macro photography but also personal stories and anecdotes.

We had both a sunny afternoon and evening with a bit of rain to explore the plants of beautiful Olgarden and possible 6 and 8 legged visitors, and then an early morning before the sun came up, to find sleepy bees in rare dahlias for example.

As a nice bonus, we have been supported by OM SYSTEM, who brought lots of bodies and lenses to test and try, and also provided technical assistance for whatever question occured, in the person of Danny from OM.

Aside from that, we had Diffusers from AK and Cygnustech to try out, as well as a range of various Godox flashes, who were kind enough, to provide the gear, including the new V480.

Here´s some photos to get an idea of how these 2 days went and how much fun it actually was.
